Phoenix

Legend has it that Phoenix got its name in 1867 from Englishman and homesteader Darrell Duppa, who saw the ruins of the Hohokam people and believed another great civilization would rise from the ashes. As of 2020, Phoenix is the sixth largest city in the U.S. with a population of 1.6 million. This thriving metropolis boasts a vibrant downtown community, scores of lovely, quiet neighborhoods and myriad year-round things to do. Located in Maricopa County, it is the capitol of the state.
